  This forum gives me an interesting diversion from what can otherwise be a boring day at my job.....my job always gets done....

  ....what a chuckle that is now!

  I was one of those severly criticised when, as a full time pioneer at age 18, my father bought me the car of my dreams, a 2 door red and white converible with a 350 engine.

  I ignored them all and drove it proudly. I pioneered with that car until I got tiree of pioneering and went off to college.

  as i told kl, i'm not sabotaging her thread, mine has a twist, for example, my wife 'descibes' me best by always reminding that i'm not 'normal.

  ' this means i do things differently than the ordinary person as i'm into many activities.

  many of these activities involve people.

  ...the "J" in my avatar is for my middle name ( James); I used it to distinguish me, only because there is another "Franklin" in the directory for membership.

  My hobbies are fencing ( it is good excercise); I work out at a gym everyday for aerobics; cardio and light weight lifting to keep trim; at my age ( soon to be 49), every little bit helps to keep in shape.

  I love sailing and until recently raced 12 meter sailboats ( C&C 40 and Ericson 39). I am an avid gardener and in the good weather am outside putering in my gardens.

  I play tennis everday with my wife.

  We are forever tinkering with our old house; there is always something to add; restore or rebuild. The property is large and although there is a lawn service to maintain the lawn; I do all the other gardening.

  My children are always a part of all this. It is interesting to me to watch the older one developing a life of her own and friends of her own. I see it all as a marvelous backdrop for them to live out their childhoods; that way it all makes sense to me.

  I also have a real "job" and go to work everyday. I am an architect and design schools on Long Island.

  does your life have a purpose or are you just existing?

  over the years i've learned to extract the good out of bad situations and it has given me a different perspective on life.

  life is all about learning.

  ..after I left the JWs I ran for my life. My life had become; due to all the JW nonsense, just an existance of trying to survive their ridiculus requirements.

  My running took me from New York , USA to Rome Italy where I got my head screwed on straight. I attended school in Rome . I wandered around Europe and rediscovered how wonderful life can be. My protracted adolesence finally ended and the JW nonsense became clear to me as just that "nonsense".

  I completed my schooling and came back to New York city to start my career; which I did. I led the single bachelor/ playboy life until that got old and I settled down to get married and start my family.

  After 5 years of marriage, The arrival of my children started an entire new chapter in my life. They renewed everything and made life sparkle.

  We have our good days and our bad days; I think that is normal. Life is good. I have chewed it thoroughly and enjoyed it.

  I have to say that at this phase of my life I am living , and it is all worthwhile.

  I am an architect and I married a wonderful non JW girl. We have 3 outstanding children; 13,10 and 5. The children and their future are my focus.

  My hobbies are restoring my old house and elaborate gardens; tennis every day ( weather permitting, we have a clay tennis court on the property; which I also restored with my own 2 hands); fencing and sailing. We live on Long Island and ; except for the ever rising cost of maintaining a quality lifestyle, we like it here.

  The children are an extra bonus and I love having them around.

  I lead a simple life and drive a small volvo wagon.

  the organization teaches that we leave everyone and everything else behind when we join christianity (also known as the "truth").

  your father, mother, brother and sister all have to be given up to become a "real" christian.

  friends that you grew up that are not of the same religion must be abandoned.

  i was reading another thread of the high # of defections within the org, and this lead me to question:.

  when and if, do you think the org will totally ban jw's use of the internet?.

  i think it will happen, they are starting to see a big drop and need to curtail it some how, and they know that many surf the web and come across sites like this, and once people discover all the coverups and the "new light" stuff and personal stories, their are going to be questions that lead to being df'd or da's.

  we are all forgetting the determination of these "followers"....

  If a court order cannot stop them from preaching ( we all know they take their que from "Jehovah Almight")

  ...the simple communications through the internet are not going to cow them over. They will simply disregard the internet as anything useful in their preaching .

  Ban its use? I doubt it....
